Carlos Jimenez, director of technology, sports and entertainment at Univision Networks, is an award-winning, technical executive with expertise in long-term planning, engineering management, and large-scale remote productions. He has a 30-year proven track record in strategic planning, innovation, and execution of large-scale projects. Jimenez is known for being a talented, highly respected leader with a reputation for thinking outside of the box. He is a member and contributor for multiple broadcast technology organizations and publications.

Jimenez has compiled a total of 30 years of experience between two major networks, NBC and Univision. He began his career with a lead position in the 1988 Olympic games in Seoul Korea and since then, has played a lead technical role in various Olympics, World Cups, and major tent pole events. Jimenez has been honored with several awards for technical achievement and excellence in remote productions, including multiple Emmys, a Peabody Award, and an Alfred I. DuPont–Columbia University Award.

Since joining Univision, Jimenez has designed and deployed multiple projects that include an international IP mesh topology satellite contribution network in 2008 and a UDP file contribution system for domestic and international bureaus in 2006. In addition, he co-designed the ambitious Newsport facility in Miami, that included REMI style full studio productions between Miami and Los Angeles. Jimenez more recently designed and deployed the first large scale “at-home” production system, for MLS soccer, that fulfills the same day set-shoot-strike requirement and repeats on a weekly basis from a different venue around the country. This design has been in place for over 4 years and has since become an industry standard.
